It's not done...but here's a progress report. With Pics!!

Lulu project update:
Tried my best this weekend!! I always underestimate the time required on these little d-i-y adventures!!
Just in case you are trying to picture this in your mind's eye, this is the corner of my kitchen, the closet is next to the pantry and the kitchen table. Opposite side from the counters, cabinets appliances etc

This is just a preview....not done yet!!! But you can get the idea:)

I wish I could zoom in so you could see how good the paint looks in person! Anyhow, rearranging and different accessories in the near future.Oh, and to the right of the german shepherd pic--is a mirror!! To reflect the light--makes it seem more sparkly in there--but it didn't photograph well...

Stairway to Heaven

First off I want to start out by saying I was having a kinda crappy morning (we are housesitting again and totally not used to dogs waking us in the night/uncomfortable beds/general pregnancy related sleeping issues) until I got me some this:
And a little bit of this:
Honestly you guys? I think I saw Blue...and he looked glorious. Talk about turning around your morning! So delicious. I'm not even the biggest fan of Pumpkin Spice (I am a true Gingerbread Latte girl), but I'm pretty sure when I opened the PSL lid little cherubs came flying out of the cup and they picked me up, and their little cherub wings carried me into my office. No joke. It was a Starbucks miracle.

And pumpkin scones are truly the eighth wonder of the world. I was watching A Baby Story yesterday, and I am positive I saw one delivering a baby. While blindfolded. The Starbucks by my work usually runs out by like 7:15 am because every man, woman and child knows how awesome these things are.

Speaking of things that make my heart go pitter-patter, I was stalking clicking around High-Heeled Foot in the Door and discovered this amazing DIY project. Adding decals to your stairs!

Directions can be found here
I'm basically 1% crafty, 99% lazy when it comes to things like this. But I seriously think I could do it. It's just stickers. And attention to detail (that will be Joel's job, duh.)
I die.

Bananas.

So major.

Literally.
(Rachel Zoe is the best at summarizing her feelings with as few words as humanly possible.)

OK so I have an absurd number of steps in my house. No joke I bet you it's somewhere in the 30ish range. We live in a townhouse and it's five levels. The stairs from the basement to foyer are carpeted, as are the stairs from the kitchen/dining room level to the bedrooms. But the stairs from foyer to living room, and living room to kitchen/dining room are hardwood. (Confusing right?) With so many stairs I think some deserve to be spruced up a bit. I mean it can't be easy bearing the weight of my fat pregnant self multiple times a day! I'll probably start with the foyer to living room staircase first, and see how it looks.

If/When I do this, I will most likely use this print:
But less blue looking, and more grey. Can you tell I really like grey?
I think this mixes with everything and is funky, without being overbearing. All I need to do now is measure the stairs and figure out how many decals I will need. And get my husband on board with having a zebra staircase. All in a days work, my friends!

-Charlie

P.S. When I start this project you can bet I will document the ENTIRE THING. Because next to giving birth (whenever that happens), this could possibly be the greatest accomplishment of my little life. Amen.

Weekend Recap! + I Need To Stop Buying Stuff For The Baby's Room

So I achieved three of my four goals this weekend, and I feel pretty darn good about that! The only thing we didn't do was put together that circuit candleholder thing. Indeed, we took naps instead. Priorities people. That's really what it's all about.

Basically I did all of the FUN things I had planned for the weekend. Friday night we had fondue and it was amazing! I was a skeptic at first, but Joel is the Fondue Master, and handled the whole thing. He definitely brought The Melting Pot to us :) :)
Hurrah!
Saturday I went out and got those prints framed for the baby's room. I'm really proud of myself that I just DID IT, and didn't talk about it for a fortnight first. I have trouble pulling the trig on home projecty type things, but thanks to my friend Olga at Michael's I was able to get it done in one sitting. Let's pause and talk about Olga for a second, shall we? She is the lovely Russian lady who works in the framing department. I seriously wish I had taken her pic. I totally could have because we bonded.

I've never really framed anything (at least anything legit) before so I walked up with a total "deer in the headlights" look on my face. In her sweet ass accent she asked me what I needed. (Sidebar: Is it me or does everything said with a Russian accent sound scary? She was commenting on how cute the lamb in the picture was and "What a cute little lamb!" said in a Russian accent literally sounds like, "Boris and I will break your knee caps, and pour vodka in your eyes.") I told her I needed white frames, and to save money. Obvi Olga understands me because before I knew it everything was picked out, framed and beautiful! And not too costly.

I said her, "OLGA!!! You are seriously the best! Has anyone ever told you how awesome you are?! Do you know what she said? "Yes." Word, girl. Word. No need to be modest...let that confidence flag fly.
Long live Olga! Prints from Etsy found here and here

I kind of want to squeeze that little rabbit. He is so damn cute.
On Saturday night I wasn't feeling so hot, but we (we as in Olga and me. Just kidding. She is way too cool to hang with me.) managed to reward ourselves with a batch of funfetti cupcakes. No pics were taken because we made them and literally inhaled them within 4 seconds of being taken out of the oven. Joel got a serious sugar rush right before bed and totally had these wild funfetti eyes. I'm pretty sure there is nothing FUN about them, and I'm pretty sure I saw them in my nightmares that night. Sweet.

On Sunday afternoon, while I watched The Rachel Zoe Project and other fab Bravo TV, my loving husband put the crib together! Go Joe-L!!!

Hard at work. With Renard's help, of course.
The finished product!!! (I'm sure these pictures are super boring for everyone but me. Sorry.)

Crib + mirrored closet + yellow walls= GREAT SUCCESS!

We are on our way, my loves! It sure is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see how it all comes together!

P.S. Just got these for the room too...

In grey, white and yellow. Via
That is my last baby room purchase for awhile. (I've gotten other little items I haven't mentioned. Woopsies!) This is getting crazehhhh!
